How Are CERT Volunteers Trained?
Volunteers attend ~30 hours of classes coordinated by Flagler Volunteer Services and taught by Certified CERT Trainers. Lectures and hands-on practical training are supported by video and PowerPoint materials. The volunteers then use the knowledge and training in practical and team building exercises wherever possible.
What Part Do CERT Members Play?
After you complete your training you will:
Be better prepared to deal with events that might otherwise seem overwhelming.
Recognize the potential hazards associated with a particular type of event and take the appropriate action.

Administer triage and first aid to victims.
Identify, organize, and utilize available resources.
Perform needs assessment, document and communicate with the Emergency Operations Center or other local authorities.
